The general control of the Computer Section is vested with Addl. Director General of Police, CID, MS, Pune, who is assisted by Spl. Inspector General of Police, SCRB, Supdt. of Police (Technicle Services). DySsP are deputed at Ranges & Commissionerates, who supervise working of computerization projects in respective Ranges & Commissionerates of Maharashtra.
Crime Criminal Information System (CCIS)
The Crime Criminal Information System is implemented in all 45 units of the State & SCRB, MS, Pune with effect from 1st January 1998. The Seven Integrated Investigation Forms viz. First Information Report, Crime Details, Property Search & Seizure Form, Arrest/Court Surrender Form, Final Form / Report, Court Disposal Form, Result of Appeal Form formed the base of CCIS Application. Reports on Crime & Criminal, Property, Matching Reports, and Statistical Reports & Miscellaneous Reports are generated through CCIS at respective units.
Common Integrated Police Application (CIPA)
In view of computerizing the police station, CIPA was implemented by NIC/MHA, New Delhi.
Following are the CIPA functionalities
1) Registration 2) Investigation 3) Prosecution 4) Information Reports / Queries 6) State Specific Functions. CIPA was implemented in three phases in Maharashtra CIPA Phase – I :- Implemented in 127 Police Stations of nine Commissionerates (Except Mumbai City) from 1st Sept. 2007.
CIPA Phase – II :- Implemented in 190 Police Stations of 8 Units viz; Kolhapur, Pune Rural, Raigad, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Nashik Rural, Dhule & Nandurbar from 01/01/2009
CIPA Phase – III :- Implemented in 41 Police Stations which included 16 Police stations of Ratnagiri District and new police stations of Phase I & II w.e.f. 25/07/2009
Crime & Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS)
CCTNS has evolved as a Mission Mode Project (MMP) under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). Proposed to be implemented in all Police Stations and all Supervisory offices of Maharashtra State. Various committees viz; State Apex Committee under chairmanship of Chief Secretary, GoM., State Empowered Committee under chairamanship of DGP, MS, Mumbai and State Mission Team under chairmanship of Addl. DGP, CID, MS, Pune have been formulated for monitoring and ensuring smooth implementation of the project. CID, MS, Pune is the nodal agency for implementing CCTNS project in Maharashtra and Spl. IGP, SCRB, CID is the nodal officer for this project.
M/s Pricewaterhouse Coopers Pvt. Ltd. is appointed as State Project Management Consultant and Monitoring Unit for CCTNS Project in Maharashtra. M/s Wipro is appointed as System Integrator and BSNL is the Network Service Provider under this Project. The Project Components are 1) Software (Centre CAS & State CAS) 2) Hardware 3) Network Connectivity 4)Data Digitization & Migration 5) Integration with existing Applications 6) Capacity Building & Change Management 7) External Interfaces (Passport, Transport, Courts, Jails).
Objectives
A District Computer Training Centre (DCTC) has been established in all units of Maharashtra State for imparting training to police officers and policemen on basic computer awareness modules as per the syllabus of NCRB, New Delhi. In all, 66 DCTCs are established where training is being imparted to the officers & men on regular basis.
